Free advise for Employers

According to recent figures from CBS, the labor market is pressing. In the Netherlands, there are 100 unemployed people for 133 vacancies. Companies often prefer candidates who are already working somewhere. This means that the gaps that need to be filled are created elsewhere.

Here is some free advise for employers:

1. Be Creative

When you publish a job posting, think carefully about the name of the position. When you have a young organization in a startup phase, it wants to help if you use different designations. This will set you apart from others and make your organization’s brand stand out!

2. Working from home is a Privilege.

During the corona period we realized that we can do a lot from home. Recently there has been a breakthrough in the Netherlands with regard to working from home.

3. Offer in-house training.

"We're really a very different organization!" Are you familiar with this statement? It often makes me laugh! If you think applicants' backgrounds are below average with your industry, make sure you offer internal training programs, by training these employees.

4. Secondary employment benefits.

"We pay them salary, right?" is often the answer I get back from employers. But of course this is what every employer does. To get suitable applicants faster it helps to give more than just salary. For example, extra vacation days, a free lunch, a city trip. Be creative!

An organization works best when employees feel part of your organizational culture and therefore employees are often willing to go the extra mile.
