What Do You Want?

While approaching candidates outside our network, we often receive responses that surprise us. Not only is the salary often disproportionate, but also the secondary benefits raise eyebrows. Here are some guidelines to look out for when you step into the arena!

  1. If I wanted to leave my current employer, why would that be?

Experience shows that, as a candidate, you are often not enthusiastic about your the current employer. Therefore, during the application process, think carefully about what caused this feeling. Possibly it is because the expectations are no longer in line with what you previously applied for.

  2. What value can you bring to another organization?

Of course a competitive salary is important! But is it not at least as important that you are in a good position, that you enjoy your work and that you are aware of your qualities so that you can lift the next organization to a higher level? Curious about the arena? Check out our job offers!

  3. Where do you want to grow?

To keep an eye on the horizon is important. Of course, this does not mean that you always have to grow into a management position. Have you ever thought about becoming an expert within your field, where others can learn from you at seminars?

  4. What are the growth opportunities within a (new) organization?

Before looking for new opportunities, it is always good to investigate the current situation at your employer. It has happened before that a candidate found out while applying for a job that this is exactly where he is now.

  5. What is really important to you in a new position?

As you may have noticed, salary is not the most important thing in a new position. Do you doubt whether you should apply for a new job and would you like a free consultation? Feel free to contact Martijn Melis.

Overall, a salary boost is nice, but gets used to it quickly. Organizations know how difficult it is to get qualified staff. So think carefully about your personal roadmap.
