The Ideal Onboarding

When a new employee has signed with your organization, a new start is always super exciting! Not only for the candidate, but also for the team and the organization. Is the new hire going to like it and are you as an organization also satisfied with how the new hire is going to work? Because, a great onboarding is key to any relationship. Below is a brief overview of what you as an organization should pay attention to:

The first day.
What does the first day look like? A new employee has a lot to deal with. New impressions, new colleagues and a new workplace. When a new employee starts, it is always important and thoughtful to send an email with an informal story of what his or her first day will be like. For example, will the new employee be assigned a buddy?

The first week.
If new employee has just started, that person is still looking at the organization with fresh eyes. Schedule a meeting and take the feedback seriously. Also ask how the first week went, whether his expectations match the work and how he likes the cooperation with the other colleagues.

The second week.
After two weeks, your new colleague has already found his or her feet. Is everything clear, does he or she need extra help? Even if it's just a fifteen-minute conversation. All the input from such a conversation is important for the long-term relationship.

The first month.
The trial period comes to an end. Discuss how you've enjoyed working together so far and what the priorities are for the next six months. Is your employee enjoying themselves and feeling at home?
