Life as an entrepreneur

Entrepreneurial you are, or you are not. After six years of being successful for my employers within recruitment, I knew I wanted to become an entrepreneur. Even before I took this step, I first carefully considered where the need was in the market. To do this, I researched various recruitment agencies back in 2021. My conclusion; every recruitment agency is in the middle of nowhere! With this conclusion, I started Membership Recruitment.

How did I get started?

Even before I went live, I first started on paper outlining processes to ensure the ideal experience for my clients and candidates. Then I digitized and centralized all processes. So that, wherever I am, I can serve my clients and candidates in the best possible way!

What does it all involve?

Pooh, secretly quite a lot! People who know me a little, or whom I have helped to find a new job in the past, know that I have a large network. People know me, but not my organization. This took more time than I thought beforehand! Therefore, I invested a lot of time in brand awareness on Social Media.

Fortunately, since I had already digitized all processes, I could work efficiently right away. I did have to brush up on my legal texts, the website, design and taxes. But thanks to Dennis Bogers, Ralf Kerkhof and Ronald Monsanto, this also worked out well!

What have I learned?

By now I am lightning fast in Adobe Illustrator, can plan well and have programmed my own database, which has automated my work and prevents me from having to think over and over again what to do. This keeps my head clear for new ideas and allows me to fully immerse myself in client requests for help, giving presentations at colleges and universities as well as product development. I have also mastered much better that you should always be open to feedback. People who give feedback just want to make you better!

Why do you always speak from "we, at Membership Recruitment?"

Well for the simple reason that I can't do everything by myself. When it comes to accounting for example, or legal issues, or super technical stuff like "linking your digital address book to your mail, google blah blah blah." You just can't be strong at everything! But luckily I am well supported and in doing so I can help clients better with their issues as well.

What are the ambitions for 2023?

In 2023 I want to work for at least five clients. Possibly hire someone for social media & SEO. Achieve at least 1000 followers on LinkedIn, 30 unique visitors per day on the website of www.membershiprecruitment.com and make it to the newspaper! Because be honest, who doesn't want a sustainable recruitment solution for their organization?
